Inspiration...
so I am the queen of all things unique... and this wedding has made me a DIY whore (sounds so dirty)...but yes...I love DIYing to the fullest and making this day we will share a special and unique day full of things that show us and who we are...
project #1 - my shoes...I found these peel & stick gems and these cute shoes and yes...I turn them into ruby heels...

with that being said...I found my dress - but the cost for a veil that I kind of liked...as they say on what not to wear "shut the front door"... so that brings me to project #2...
I am not quite finished but this is my inspiration for it...

I want it long and with lace...but you know I need some spakle magic in it as well...so when I finished my veil I'll post pictures of that too...
so brings me to project 3...
I want to incorporate a little tradition of both mines and his in the wedding.... I am going to need help from his family for the sofreh aghd
and for my culture being a black american woman...what is a wedding without jumping the broom...
yes I want to make my own wedding broom...and I will make it with a tad bit of sparkle magic...

so many people I think get confused about where the wedding broom came from in the Black american community...it comes from when slaves were not allowed to marry each other because marriage amongst slaves was consider illegal....jumping the broom was their secert way of confriming thier love and unity to each other without the slave owner knowing they were married but it was understood by others who was married to who....needless to say it is something many do out of respect and do it for recognizing the history and honoring their ancestors who were not allowed the rights to a marriage license but had to invent their own official way.
I am excited to have a little bit of everything in this wedding tied together nicely....I even found a wedding ceremony set up that I just adore and think will be prefect for our cultured filled wedding...
somedays I tend to freak out about the planning process but then I take a deep breath and focus...I am glad to say with less than 8 months...almost at the 7 month mark...
things are coming into focus and it isn't so bad.
peace in love...
Januari.
